Project Control Vocational Qualifications using the National Professional, Intermediate and Foundation Occupational Standards for:
• Project Managers
• Cost Engineers & Analysts
• Cost Estimators
• Planning Engineers
• Contract and Commercial Personnel
• Multi-disciplined Project Controllers and
• The businesses in which they work
Project controllers make a vital contribution to the successful completion of any project. The skills of the project control disciplines provide the proactive "eyes and ears" of good project management. The national set of occupational standards that provide the basis of the qualifications have been developed from the best current practice in industry and as such represent the most authoritative "Body of Competence" that is available today.
The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB), in conjunction with the Association of Cost Engineers, led the involvement of businesses and industry in the creation of the project control occupational standards. On approval by the regulatory authorities, they were followed by the development of the Levels 2, 3 & 4 National Vocational Qualifications.
The development of Foundation Learning for Apprenticeships and other New Starters to the Project Control disciplines has resulted in the addition of the Level 2 to the suite of qualifications.
The NVQ Level 2 qualification is designed to equip a new starter into the profession to begin to develop and demonstrate the skills and knowledge that make up the project controller's occupational competence. It is particularly suited to persons in company training schemes.
The NVQ Level 3 qualification is aimed at practitioners who are establishing themselves within the profession, typically with about two years' experience
The NVQ Level 4 qualification is designed to recognise persons who are fully competent in all aspects of their project control discipline
TASC was established by the ACostE, the home for Project Control Professionals, and the industry's learned professional society to provide practitioners with the professional qualifications demanded by today's competitive business environment.
TASC recruits senior project controls professionals and supports, mentors and trains them to become qualified TASC or in-company assessors and verifiers. It is mandatory that they are Members or Fellows of the Association to ensure that they keep up to date with current professional developments and to uphold the standards required for the various membership grades. They are required to deliver both qualifications and the benchmarking programmes offered by TASC to industry.
TASC operates a fee structure that initially includes for all candidate registration, management and quality assurance requirements. This is followed by a flexible approach to cater for candidates requiring greater or lesser degrees of mentoring during their programmes.
TASC through the ACostE also provides support to:
TASC delivers specific topic training to candidates focused on the knowledge requirements of the standards. As part of the ACostE professional Body input, such training is free or heavily subsidised.
TASC through our assessors and the ACostE, provides candidates with access to networking opportunities and access to the range of expertise available from the Association's Special Interest Groups. All persons engaged upon any of the project control programmes will be offered a year's free membership of the ACostE to assist their learning and development opportunities.
Formed by The Association of Cost Engineers in 2004 to provide a "Not for Profit" occupational skills development service to the project controls industry. The offices are based in Sandbach, Cheshire with approximately twenty assessors working from their homes all around the United Kingdom.
